Blueberry Bushwhacking is an RNG heavy survival game about repeatedly juicing oneself after the world has been taken over by an infection that turns people into blueberries. The game loop is predominantly choice driven, with the player selecting one of a series of options (forage, explore, sleep, use item) or making decisions when presented with multiple choices. The gameplay is heavily inspired by Corruption of Champions.
- Hunger: Increases through the course of a day, less quickly while the player is sleeping. Higher infection rates decrease the need for food, though the player will still report being hungry. An uninfected player needs two to three rations in a day.
- Damage: Increased when injured by traps or combat. Healed by resting.
- Fill: The amount of fluid and air the player contains. Most frequently increased by infection, but occasionally by traps.
- Infection: The amount of the pathogen inside the player's body. Increased by exposure to highly infected environments like bunkers or to highly infected people. Decreased by assorted items. A highly infected player might not be able to resist eating or drinking certain materials.
- Sleepiness: Increases throughout the day. High sleepiness can impact the player's ability to find things or solve problems, similar to mental fatigue, but also impacts the ability to heal.
- Physical Fatigue: Increased by performing tasks like running, fighting, or walking. Decreased by resting.
- Mental Fatigue: Increased by performing tasks which require focus, like searching or building.
- Social Fatigue: Increased by negotiating, talking, or dealing with stressful situations.
As fatigues increase, a player becomes increasingly likely to fail at performing a task that uses the given attribute, e.g., a player who is highly physically fatigued may fail to run away from a combat encounter.
